Prophecy of the Crimson Phoenix

Magic - A rare gift, dreaded by all those who poses it but have no power to protect themselves. In a land ravaged by war there is a centuries old prophecy. This prophecy, known as The Phoenix Prophecy states, A child, born to the lord of the phoenix, shall become the one true king of all men and unite the people of Galadrin forever banishing the kingdoms of ruin after they answer for their sins.

The prophecy recently revealed to the King over the Dragon people, currently the most powerful of the four kingdoms, ordered the land of the Phoenix destroyed. Battle ensued and inevitably ended in the destruction of the great Phoenix kingdom.

During the last days of the war the Phoenix King realized that he and all his kin and royal blood would be put to death and had his one and only son, who wasn't yet two years old, sent to the neighboring Griffin kingdom where he had hoped that someone would take him in and raise him as their own so that he could live a normal life. After all, why should the innocent die for one mans greed?

The knight who was taking the boy was ambushed near the border of the Griffin lands and slain. The horse ran on and ended up in the Forest of Tranquility where it finally came to stop by a stream. In this forest happened to be a royal entourage escorting, the Griffin Queen and her three year old daughter, back to their palace. When the entourage was halted the queen asking why was told there was a baby with strange markings on his forehead in the middle of the road with a horse from the Phoenix Kingdom. The queen stepped out of her carriage and of course her daughter snuck out and ran on ahead managing to escape all of the guards on her way to the boy. She stopped a few feet shy and was mesmerized at the sight. A glowing crimson phoenix tattooed across the boys brow. Blazing red eyes, noble and proud seemed to understand exactly what was happening, looked up at her. They shifted to the queen when she came close. There was a strange feeling in the air. A baby of this age should be crying and helpless but his eyes showed no fear, nothing, that is until the little girl approached and touched the boys tattoo which then disappeared and his eyes swiftly changed color to a brilliant sapphire blue immediately watering up as the boy burst into tears. The queen reached down and picked him up finding a note explaining that the boy was born to parents who would soon be slaughtered by the dragon army and that they wished for their only son to live a life clean of any sin and be happy. Confused but understanding one thing, the queen ordered the Phoenix saddle burnt and the horse sent away and all evidence destroyed, innocent children should not be left to die. Upon returning to the castle with the boy, she explained things to her husband who agreed to allow the boy to stay and be raised as a servant. The Griffon Kingdom had it's own fears and the king thought this would be best.

Meanwhile the Dragon kingdom knew that the Phoenix king had a child and the army was sent looking. They searched every bit of the Phoenix Kingdom before taking control of it and turning its people into slaves.

Eventually the war ended and things quieted down but the Dragon King now holding more land than the other three had more influence and it was difficult to stand up to him. The times of peace slowly left the world and there was always a fear that at any time war would break out again.

sixteen years had passed since the day the boy was taken in by the queen. He was treated well but still he remained a servant mainly to the king and was training in his off time to become a valiant knight for the kingdom. Of course he knew nothing of who he was and the princess was made to not tell anyone, Of course being two she had nearly no recollection of the events of that night but in her dreams she would occasionally see a crimson phoenix and two blazing red eyes. You can imagine that the boy would have a typical servant/princess relationship with her and of course secretly, the princess was quite fond of the boy who always seemed to be around. Other servants had come and gone over the years but strangely he was always there.

and Thus begins our story, the Dragon King's annual hunt he sends riders to each kingdom on the anniversary of the execution of the Phoenix King to assess all males around the age of his son, this year, seventeen. Any resemblance to the Phoenix clan was to be reported to the Dragon King at once.

The main kingdoms:

Key characters:

Dragon King - (will probably end up being me but if anyone wants to assume the role feel free)

Griffin Princess -

Phoenix Prince - Keke (of course)

(if you can weave other characters in to be key characters feel free)

Not too many, I want this to be fairly adaptable. If you can think of anything else that can be added to make the plot better then by all means do and let me know, I will try and keep track of the plot outlines as best I can to aid in the progression of the role play.

Magic, As the story says, magic is very rare and people who are capable of using it are outcast from society for the most part. the King might have his head sorcerer or something but that would likely only be the dragon kingdom. People with magic abilities are feared and thus the reason they are outcast. with that said if you chose to have magical powers then understand that it should be quite powerful but your character should have basically no friends and live as an outcast. The only accept ion to this would be much like my Phoenix Prince and them not knowing about their magical powers and thus being uncontrollable. just try and keep it so it doesn't ruin the story anyhow.

Other than that I don't know of anything off the top of my head.

To get started we will need someone to assume the role of the princess and some other people I guess. Make as many characters as you like and I don't care what you put in their bio, just make a name and a short description of who they are, male/female, age, the usual stuff.
Oh, and first person to choose royalty in any kingdom gets to give them their family name which then anyone else in the royal family should follow.

Gentry waved an open bottle of spice under his nose. She wore a disdainful frown."Took you long enough."

coughing, Aiden rolled away from the spice and covered his head up with his pillow. "Do you enjoy tormenting me on my day off? Can't a guy sleep in once in a while?"

Gentry frowned, standing up straight."Your day off? Did you forget about the little promise you made yesterday? We were supposed to start sparring. How are we ever going to practice if you're either sleeping or working?"
She blew noisily and tossed her hair over her shoulder."Besides.You know the blacksmith won't make me a proper sword if I can't learn to wield one."

"Why learn how to wield a sword when you can just gag everyone to death in their sleep..."
Aiden slowly rolled out of bed, dreary eyed and yawning. "Fine.. Fine.. But first, breakfast. You can't train on an empty stomach you know."
Pausing, he turned back to the Princess, "Forgive me but, I need to get dressed so... I guess I'll meet you in the small courtyard after breakfast?"

Gentry sniffed."Fine."
She left the room in a huff, muttering under her breath,"Selfish, lazy boy..."
Just as she entered the kitchen, she turned at the sound of someone calling her name.

Aiden went to the bathroom, cleaned up and threw some clothes on then quickly made his way to the kitchen. Aiden grabbed a medium size breakfast then found his way to the corner up on the walls of the castle that he likes. The view was overlooking the edge of the town, across the plain and the forest far off in the distance

Meanwhile,Gentry had run into one of her handmaidens, who claimed the queen was looking for her.She rushed up the castle floors until reaching one of many sitting rooms. Her mother sat in a chair besides the fireplace.
Her father stood next to her,his hand on her shoulder.
Gentry appraoched them carefully, butterflies swirling in her stomache.something is wrong...
The king raised his head higher."Daughter.Please have a seat. There is something important we must discuss with you."

After scarffing down his meal, Aiden began his morning routine This normally consisted of stretching and acrobatics along the castle wall in the sunrise of the morning.

Gentry glanced at her mother. The tiredness in her eyes and the sadness in her smile, only made her wish her handmaiden hadn't found her.
She sank into a nearby chair, pressing both hands in her lap. There were several seconds that passed, with naught but the sound of the crackling fire.
Finally, her father took a deep breath and began."You know very well your betrothed is due to arrive anyday now."
Gentry blinked."Yes."
"Well,we have received...a letter."
