Kazumata inclined his head in a bow when Heinz spoke to him. "Indeed, I am sorry for not being at lunch on time, As you can see I was entrusted with something more important than food."

Kazu, playing the noble he had to in public introduced the two of them.

"Elysia, this is He-" interrupted again, by Heinz
Kazu was a bit annoyed by Heinz for interrupting him but he did not let on that he was annoyed. He simply held hand out toward's the princesses plate, "Shall I hold it for you?"

" I wouldn't have been pleasant company anyways. I'm struggling in one of the classes I actually care about, and it's rather frustrating." He said, turning to the princess next,smiling, " Elysia is a beautiful name by the way."

Elysia sat on the ground outside the cafeteria to eat her food, but she had just about lost her appetite. She didn't really mean to explode like she had, and she should have just ignored it all. She knew her father wasn't going to like hearing about this little outburst one bit. She sighed and set the plate on her lap.
She looked up when she heard Kazu say her name. She thought she heard him say something else when suddenly someone she had never met before introduced himself. He appeared much more uncomfortable than Kazu at his treatment of royalty, which was most apparent in his jerky bow to her. She giggled a little. She was glad to see for onc that at least someone in the kingdom wasn't so obsessed with treating her differently.
Elysia stood up as Heinz introduced himself. She handed her plate to Kazu more out of convenience than anything, so she could hold out her hand to Heinz.
"It's very nice to meet you Mr. Heinz Von Klause. I hope all you have heard about me has been positive, well aside from my little episode a few moments ago." She responded, trying to smile as much as she could, for her embarassment from her previous actions was still very clear.

"I've heard the usual princess descriptions," he said, shaking her hand, " 'Beautiful, kind, generous, humble, etc.,etc.' ...Everything that the usual diva-like princesses are not. You, however, are living up to those standards so far as I can see."

Elysia was uncertain if she had just been paid a compliment or insulted.What heinz was saying hit her in a mishmash of words, and she ony really heard, "diva. . . beautful. . . living up to those standards."
Because she knew she had better be polite, rather than stir up any more of a mess around here, she gave Heinz a cute little smile with a small, "thank you very much Mr. heinz," attached at the end.
She liked this Von Klause guy. He didn't seem too bad, and, as far as she could tell, was very focused on his studies. However, she couldn't help but feel the opposite assumption coming from Kazu, who went back into "royalty-awareness-mode" as soon as he was around.
Because of the level of discomfort she sensed amongst the group, Elysia decided that maybe it was time for her and Kazu to leave. It's not like she felt like eating anymore anyway, and her father would kill her if she wasn't right where he left her earlier.
"Well Mr. Heinz Von Klause, it was very nice to meet you, but I must be getting back to my father. He'll send a search party if I'm not exactly where he left me when he returns," she gave a nervous giggle and continued,"I hope to see you at the opening ceremony tomorrow, and the opening party afterwards. Good Day sir." Eysia bowed her head a bit, smiled, and began to walk in the opposite direction of Kazu's room.

Kazu, Noticing that he was the one who was hungry to begin with and forgot to get any food while he was in the cafeteria, snatched a roll from the princess' plate. He figured it wouldn't be a big deal since she had grabbed so much in her rush to leave.

Feeling a bit of tension from Elysia Kazu had walked up to her quietly not mentioning they were going the wrong way. After a moment, and a lot of thingking about Elysia saying she would have a search party sent after her, Kazu finally said in a sort of hushed voice. "Hey, Elysia... I.. I've really missed you. and.. I.. I need to tell you something after the ceremony tomorrow. Also, I am sorry that I never got to say farewell all those years ago."

Kazu was clearly in deep thought as he was talking and his voice was much less sure of himself, mostly because nobody else was around and he could allow himself to relax a bit. Thinking he would tell her about what happened the last time they were together after the ceremony, he went quiet and just walked with Elysia

Yes...and I'm sure you'll be accompanied to this party by a certain member of the Klein family... Heinz was in quite the predicament. No noble went to an official occasion unaccompanied. However, there were no girls from Vasilde at the academy, not even one with some distant relatives living there. His family's rules strongly suggested that he not be accompanied by anyone with common blood, and they completely forbade him being accompanied by someone without "Blutere". It literally meant "honored blood" and figuratively meant anyone from Vasilde.
Since not a single girl here fit those requirements(no noble would have waited this late to find someone to accompany them...except Heinz of course),and not going wasn't an option, he would have to do one of two things: 1) embarrass himself publicly and attend the opening ceremonies unaccompanied or 2)attend with a commoner without honored blood and hope the news didn't reach his family. We all have to take risks sometimes...and I know just who to ask...
____________________________________________________
Heinz walked into Zoology early (a very rare occurrence for him in any class) and sat next to a girl who had been very bad at hiding her frequent glances at him last year. When he sat down, she confirmed his suspicions by blushing furiously and immediately began going through her bag, avoiding eye contact with Heinz.
He smirked, " I doubt we'll need our books on the first day."
She was obviously surprised that he talked to her because she sat up immediately. " O-oh, " she managed to get out after a while, " I guess that makes sense..."
He held out his hand. "Heinz von Klause."
She took his hand timidly, " Sophie Quinn..."
A student came in and sat at the back of the lecture hall, puzzled as to why Heinz was actually sitting with someone, near the front of the room.
" Ok, I'll make this quick, before more people come in," he said, speaking softly but quickly, " I need someone to accompany me to the opening ceremonies tomorrow night and-"
" YES!" Sophie yelled, destroying all semblance of subtlety. " I don't know what I'd wear though."
Heinz sighed " Please try not to be so loud...anyway, my mother sent a dress from our country just in case I ran into a common girl from Vasilde here. Come to my dormitory at 5 and we can see if it fits you. I've also got to teach you how to act.." He was just starting to wonder whether or not this was truly a good idea when the teacher walked in. He could tell by his facial features that he came from Vasilde. Interesting...

Name: Sophie Quinn
Age: 18
Class: commoner
Kingdom: Lamor
Power:fire
Bio: The daughter of an upper-middle class merchant, Sophie was never in want of anything as a child. She wasn't spoiled, by any means, but she had a good house (though not opulent), nice( but not too nice) clothes, spending money, and could count on three big meals a day. She's in her third year at the academy, but didn't see Heinz at all their first year. Usually rather assertive and daring, talking to him was the only thing she had ever been afraid of doing.
Appearance: Image
(except in the Academy of light's uniform...and she doesn't own clothes like that.)

Still catching up...*Huff, Puff--Wheeze!*

Since it was only a short walk from the apartments housing the Lower Echelon Teachers [As in: Didn't teach Magic, and were therefore looked down upon by those who did, the Knobby Snobs :roll:] where Vic lived, to the towering building [known commonly as "The Spire" by those on campus, and the Academy of Light's original building] where all classes were taught, it meant that Vic could leave his horse in the stable--

But after classes were over, he would take Excelsior out for a long, invigorating ride in the surrounding countryside, something that they both delighted in, and which helped Vic to put his day--and any fresh frustrations--into better perspective....

[And, it cut down on the number of duels he might find himself involved in, too, since time alone with his Stallion and "Her" helped him to mellow out his oft-times fiery temper as well--

Not that those first couple of battles occurring so soon after arriving in Lamor, and fought with out-of-town Minor Nobles--where he'd either managed to lightly maim or soundly embarrass the Over-Bred Braggarts!--hadn't firmly established his Reputation as Someone Not to be Called a Bastard to His Face, Unless You are Truly High-Born Enough to Get Away with It :wink: ]

However, his path did take him past the front of the Magic Teachers' dorm, which meant he still had to start each day by facing his first challenge, that of running the gauntlet of their Uppity Disapproving Stares--

Not that he cared, he told himself....

After all, he'd never intended to teach magic, anyway, since that's not where his greatest talents lay, and altho' he would've preferred to work as a Sword Master, he'd already known that most Nobles of any worth trained their sons in the use of many kinds of bladed weapons long before they were old enough to attend the Academy--It was just basic commonsense and self-defense, after all!

So, all those years spent wandering after he'd left the Village he'd been born in [and where his Mother had died], learning to not only survive, but even to thrive, had taught Vic a great deal about the bountiful fauna in the many parts of each country he'd passed thru' or visited: Domesticated, Wild, formerly Extinct [or so it was claimed, back in that misty past when supposedly something called Tek-Knowledge-Ics held sway instead of Magic and many species had disappeared]--And even Mythic, rare as they often were.....

"Well, yes--That nearly fatal encounter with the Young Dragon DOES rather count as a Learning Experience, I would agree--I TOLD you not to poke his snout with your sword, Dearest, didn't I? Dragons' noses are very tender at that age!

But then again, we both know that the real reason you don't "care" to teach the use of Elemental Magic is that you don't have much control of your OWN gifts....Don't we now, Vic?"

Vic gave a *snort* at this "Self-Revelation", and his lips curved briefly in a wry, inwardly-turned smile--

Only "She" could get away with making him acknowledge what he wouldn't even admit to himself!

"Now stop fussing about what you can't change--at least not all at once--give those Puffed-Upped Over-Literary Magic Hacks one of your Patented "I just might be Crazy Enough to come over there and BITE you!" Glares, and get to your classroom before your students beat you there!"

"Yes, MA'AM!", Vic almost blurted out loud, and then did as he was told, speeding towards the huge Main Door opening into the Spire, where already students were gathering to enter for the First Day of Classes.......

[Getting there.....!] :P

Elysia walked quite a bit before she even thought about Kazu being around her. In fact she had pretty much all but forgotten abbout him until he spoke up.
"Hey, Elysia... I.. I've really missed you. and.. I.. I need to tell you something after the ceremony tomorrow. Also, I am sorry that I never got to say farewell all those years ago."
She stopped dead in her tracks. He did miss her. She couldn't fully believe what she was hearing. The words Kazu spoke made her happy, and sad, and a whole other mix of emotions she never really expected could go together. However, she didn't want to alrm Kazu, so she tried her best to choke back the intensity of her feelings, but still managed to let a tear or two go.
Wiping her tears, and facing him she replied, "Kazu, thank you. I feel like I've been waiting for forever to hear you say that. Sorry if that sounds selfish, or rude or whatever, not that ten years is really all that long and I mean. . . thank you. I missed you too." She flashed one of her cutest smiles at Kazu. She was glad to have her friend back again, even if it was only for the brief moments as she waited for her father to return.
"Hey Kazu, why do you have to tell me something tomorrow? can't you tell me now? . . .Also. . . . where are we?" Elysia looked around in whatever hall they were in. She knew she had been here before with her father, but she wasn't completely sure where here was. She turned to Kazu with worry written on her face.

Kazu stopped and looked around. "hmm... I don't know, this is my first day here after all." Kazu continued looking around for a bit. "I... have to make sure of something before I tell you is all. It;s probably... well maybe... well, it could be very important. So I need to make sure first."

As Ethernenen finishes his power display he returns to his seat and as the class finishes, before he leaves his class Kiriko yells "Hey you pink hair,!" which greatly tick's him off despite his facial expression
"Yeah" he replies.
"How did you do that?" asked kiriko,
"Do what?" he said.
"How did you change my clothes like that?"
"Well it' a blood inherited power, but if you want i can teach some things with your light fire." said Etherenen,
"Ok, we can meet with some of my freinds during lunch," said kirko,
"All right, let's go." replies Etherenen.

Just a quick note:

I've been very sick for the past week, and now have a lot of work to make up, but I'll be back as soon as possible--

Don't give up on me, yet!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now--Yes, FINALLY!!! :roll: --I am back and ready to write! I make one Last Apology for all the delay, but how was I to know that one week of sick would take three weeks and then some to make up?
[Extra-Huge & Groveling Apology to Primary, who probably hates me now for taking so *Bleepity-Bleep-BLEEP!* long.......Sorry :cry: ]
Anyway, I hope this rather long post helps to make up for it all!
As Vic came rushing up to the steps leading into the Academy Entrance, and then abruptly slowed down to a more dignified "Professor-Like Pace" [No need to pull a "Mr. Chips", and give the Students an actual reason to be amused at his expense], he thought he spotted, just walking thru' the doorway at the top of the stairs, probably the One Person in all of Lamor who was capable of making the normally outwardly icy Zoology Teacher, Swordsman and Duelist all but burst into the Searing FLAME of a Blazing and almost Mindless Anger--
Heinz von Klause
[Or, as Vic privately called the Young Vasildean Noble,
"That Damn-Blasted Noble Brat!"--
Not that he actually knew von Klause, other than by the kid's already burgeoning reputation as a Snob, even among his own Fellow Noble Snobs....
But you could say that Heinz embodied everything that still hurt and burdened Vic the most about his situation in Life--
As well as the continuing "taint" of his own Noble Blood and Vasildean Background, which he had hoped to finally escape completely when he came to Lamor...........]
He was just preparing to give a disgusted *Snort!* and perhaps mutter [instead of bellow, as he so very badly wished to do] Many Great Obscenities under his breath concerning the possible misbegotten lineage of his currently Least Favorite Noble (Well--Not counting the King of Lamor [whom Vic strongly suspected frequently mistreated his sweet and kind Daughter, the Princess Elysia] since he was technically Royalty, anyway], and he could hear the Voice start up in alarm and protest with the Hurried Warning--
"Vic! VIC!! Now remember that YOU are the Adult here, and not only can't you afford to make any more Enemies than you already have, but the First Day of Classes is NOT the time to pick a fight with one of your Students, no matter how much he annoys y--!!"
--When they both were rudely interrupted by something pink(?!) swooping close overhead, causing Vic to instinctively duck [Good thing he didn't wear his sword during class time, or he might've instinctively sliced and diced it as well!], nearly miss his footing on the first stair, and--not incidentally--totally forget Heinz von Klaus for the moment in his startled surprise--
"What the Bloody HELL was THAT!!?", he nearly yelped out loud, before identifying the UFPO [Unidentified Flying Pink-Haired Object] as the Academy's First and Only Ethernian Student, Etherenen Beta!
As Vic straightened up to watch the Young Last-of-His-Kind Noble come to a perfect two-point landing at the Front Entrance [nary a pink hair out of place], apparently still completely unaware that he had just buzzed one his Teachers near witless, "She" remarked rather sardonically--
"Well, at least you're not so angry anymore as to ruin your one chance at a Decent Life and Career by challenging someone who is still basically a child--and therefore it's quite rightfully Illegal--to a Duel that you might only win if von Klaus didn't pick Magic as his Weapon...."
And as much as Vic might've wanted to deny it--He was near unbeatable with the Sword, but was just as likely to Incinerate himself [and maybe a few Innocent Bystanders as well!] if he tried to fight Fire with Fire in a Magic Duel with even the likes of that Snotty Little Heinz Kid--once again he had to admit that his Inner Voice was correct.....As usual!
So he tried once again to regain his Dignity by dusting down his clothes*, pushing his hair out of his eyes [Which was a waste of time, since it insisted in hanging down in his face no matter what he did with it, tho' that did come in handy for giving everyone that "Vicious Beast Glaring from a Dark Cave with One Cold Blue Eye" Affect that rattled Wiser Nobles and occasionally frightened his more frolicsome Students into giving him a wide berth and a modicum of Real Respect], and stalked up the stairs and into the Academy Building, just in time to teach his first class.......
*I don't know if Academy Teachers are supposed to have a Uniform of any sort , but I wanna' mention what Vic usually wears, at this point in my story:
Think basically the same outfit [including that cool coat, but sans the bird] that Vicious (Cowboy BeBop) wore, except for the tie--
[Never did figure out why someone like Vicious would wear a tie, anyway....Must be a Japanese Thing, I guess]
And riding boots when he's out with Excelsior, 'cuz you can get yourself killed wearing the wrong kind of footwear in a stirrup!
Pic Example:
Image
This is also a Good Example of that "You are going to DIE!" Stare of Vic's, especially when he's miffed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Which, all things considered after all that had occurred earlier that morning, went remarkably well!

In fact, it wasn't until later, at lunchtime, that the day once again showed signs of possible Trouble......

Vic preferred to eat his cafeteria meals alone [Which food, in spite of how some of the Noble Students went on about it, wasn't half so bad as some of the things Vic had been forced to eat just to stay alive in those miserable days soon after his Mother's death, when the people of her Village had chased him away to fend for himself] and when the weather was nice, outside under a shady tree somewhere close-by on campus. And he was heading towards a likely good spot when he passed two of his morning class students, a couple of Giggly Teenage Girls [What were their names again? Riev and Haruka?], who suddenly hushed each other into mock seriousness and watched him covertly from under their eyelashes as he continued on by, only to burst back into infectious giggles again when they thought he was safely out of hearing....

He rolled his eyes at their silly antics, knowing that many Noble and Commoner Females thought him "Ruggedly Handsome", and even "Wicked", all too easily impressed by his Reputation for being Dangerous, and this was especially so for a number of Female Students [and one or two of the Female Professors, too--Unfortunately!] But he was used to it, and knew it for what it was in reality--

Just a passing and meaningless Fancy, even unwanted Attention, not to be taken seriously--Especially when it came from Bored and Persistent Wealthy Women who only saw him as a possible Illicit Diversion from their Husbands and Children or even just another one-night notch to rack up on their bedposts--Something Vic had learned about, to his dismay and chagrin, a long time ago, during his own early teen years as a "pet" to one of them.....

Until she become bored with him, that is!

But that Rejection and further Abandonment had pained him almost as much as his Mother's death, and so, Vic had made a habit of avoiding any entanglements, romantic or even only of the purely physical variety, keeping himself a bit lonely at times [Except for "Her", who was always a Comfort], but always nonetheless Free..........

And the only exception he'd made after all these years since was Princess Elysia, who'd somehow stolen his heart in spite of his usual careful vigilance--

Because, you see, Vic adored her

And not in a "Dirty-Minded-Older-Man-Chasing-Girls-Too-Young-for-Him" perverted way, either, but in the manner of a Lost Boy Who is Smiled Upon by a Kindly and Caring Angel, which is how he saw Elysia...

For she was one of the few people in his 25 years of Life to ever see what his own Mother must have loved about him, and Elysia treated him accordingly, with an open Honesty he'd not known existed in anyone born of more than Commoner Blood.

So when she suddenly burst out of the Outer Cafeteria door only a short distance from where Vic sat on the grass eating, very obviously UPSET about something [Just WHAT had her Father said or done, now to the Poor, Sweet Girl!?], Vic immediately thought to come to her rescue--Like any Gentleman, Noble-Born or not, would do for a Princess in Distress--

But he'd only just stood up when Kazumata Klein followed Elysia out the door, apparently intent on his own Princess Rescue, and bringing Vic's inclinations to a screeching halt, as he watched the Young Noble successfully comfort the Klein-Eventual-Bride-to-Be....

"Kazu Klein--Now THERE'S a Conundrum of Noble Proportions!"

And Vic, in spite of some understandable Pangs of Jealousy, fully agreed--

Because if there was ONE Noble that Vic could possibly admire, it was Kazu, even if the Young Man was to eventually marry the Girl Who Owned Vic's Heart, and was therefore something of a Rival [Well, at least in Vic's mind]......

He had been a Student in Vic's Zoology class the previous year, and it was easy to understand why Kazu Klein was so well-liked by so many people, even across lines of Class and Blood, as the Boy had been Open and Friendly, at least by Typical Noble Standards--

Even Vic could admire someone who was Honest, Kind and Loyal to a Fault, something many Nobles seemed to think of as Weaknesses....

And, it was especially reassuring to see that Kazu still actually CARED about the person to whom he was obligated by politics to marry, since Vic hoped that perhaps the Young Noble could protect her from her Father, as Vic could not--

"But WHY has he become so.....Distant....this past year?", thought Vic, eventually going back to his lunch, even tho' he'd now lost his appetite, thinking of such unpleasantries in connection with the two Young People he felt he could admire--

Was perhaps the Constant Pressure to conform, to perform his Duty as a Noble regardless of how he felt inside or what he believed personally, finally breaking the Young Resolve of Kazumata Klein, turning him into just another Pompous Snob?

"I understand your concern, Vic Dear, but don't sell that Boy short just yet! There's a VERY Strong Spirit and Power growing inside of Kazu, one that could change EVERYTHING, and for the Better--

I can FEEL it!"

Vic had to smile at such Confidence from what might just be a Figment of his Imagination [Not that he believed that, of course!], but it still seemed as if the day had gone a bit Sour--

And when he returned later to his classroom for the next Zoology Course, that feeling was CONFIRMED, in Spades!!!

Okay, I'm gonna' HAFTA' stop at this Point, as I've now been writing for at least four straight hours and I my eyes are getting blurry--Never mind typing or spelling properly anymore!

Primary--My next scene will be Vic's confrontation with Heinz, I Promise, but what I can't promise is that I'll have time to write it before next Friday [March 23rd].....

Sorry, but RL has a way of interfering with all the Really Important Things no matter what-ya' do :(

Okay, Primary--Here we go!

There he was, That von Klaus Kid, sitting right up in front and chatting up some Poor, Innocent Commoner Girl he would probably only use and then discard in that almost offhand way so many Nobles had, as if all the world were their Buffet Table, to pick over with an Attitude of Disdain that indicated they thought nothing was ever good enough.......

Or No One

If looks alone could kill, Heinz von Klause would've been a goner, burnt to a cinder, such was Vic's Burning, One-Eyed *GLARE*--

Not that the Young Noble seemed to notice anything was amiss, in spite of that!

[And it was probably a Very Good Thing at that particular Moment in Time that Vic (having lost his appetite earlier at Lunch, and still worrying over the future fates of Kazu and Elysia) had left to have a quick visit with Excelsior in the stables, just before Heinz had arrived to introduce himself to the Princess--And thus quite possibly keeping the Zoology Teacher from bursting into a Raging Flame himself, just at the mere sight of the Vasildean Noble in her near vicinity--

Which could've resulted in Murder, Mayhem--And a rather Embarrassing Incident for the Academy of Light!]

"Viiiiiiiiiic!", "She" warned, in the tone of a Mother about to lose her patience, all too well aware that he was about to say something they'd both come to regret in his Anger.......................

*TAG!*

Your turn---
