GASP omgosh there are so many to choose from, where to start?!
Um um um ok heres a list I'm coming up with on the spot and I'm dead sure you're going to like one or more of these! Either read the reviews about them or watch the first episode, whatever works for you :D

So here goes-
1. Witch Hunter Robin
2. Nightwalker: Midnight Detective
3. Inu Yasha
4. Fruits Basket
5. Case Closed
6. Full Metal Alchemist
7. Vandread
8. Chobits
9. Ayashi no Ceres
10. Elfen Lied
11. Hellsing
12. Fafner
13. Love Hina
14. Naruto
15. Trigun
16. Slayers
And for movies, I'd like to suggest the following-
1. Inu Yasha movies 1-4
2. Howl's Moving Castle
3. Place Promised in our Early Days
4. Castle in the Sky
5. The Slayers movies
And if you liked Place Promised in our Early Days, you're going to love the OVA named Voices of a Distant Star
Thats all I have for you now, hope you got to chose from this list :D

PS- Slayers is hilarious :D

All due respect, but I really don't care what anyone else thinks about this series "Fighting Spirit", because in my own opinion, after watching anime for many years - I'm talkin' bout "8-Man After", "Vampire Hunter D", "Project A-ko:Battle One Grayside vs Battle Two Blue", "Neo-Tokyo", "Akira". And great series' like "Dragonball Z", "Bleach", "One Piece", etc... This series "Fighting Spirit", at episode 8 so far, in my judgement ranks up there with the greats! If you know good anime(for real), the stuff that carries that special "something" that just hooks you, for example: DBZ,One Piece,Bleach, and let's not forget, if ANYONE has seen any of the series' "Birdy the Mighty" or "Battle Angel"(both are OUTSTANDING! Btw) And "Berserk"(Not english dubbed. Japanese version with subtitles. ONLY way to get the true grit of what the director wanted to be conveyed...PERIOD!)is just CRAZY!! That's just to name a few. I'm gonna check out every episode in the rest of this series, and if it stays in the same groove I'm seein' so far,...this is gonna be EPIC!!

The new guy would like to make a humble suggestion. I'ma agree with Themax here. The Slayers is awesome. Go watch it. Now. Stop after the 3rd season though. I didn't really like Revolution and Evolution-R. Also D-Gray Man. Or at least what Animecrave has. I personally loved it. I'd also recommend Clannad and Clannad After Story. Of course, there are the ones that most would recommend like Rurouni Kenshin and Trigun, but that's kind of obvious(I personally love both btw).

AC has all of D-Gray man sadly, they stopped making it half way into it just like Hitman Reborn ( which I'm still hoping comes back)

Ah that's true. I forgot they stopped the dub halfway in. I'm kinda curious if AC has the sub...Except that the main character sounds pretty much the opposite of how he should. Like the japanese voice of Edward Elric. There's a reason why I like a lot of dubs more than subs. The voices fit a LOT more usually. Provided some dubs are atrocious, a lot of them are really good. It's just that there seems to be an unreasonable bias amongst my friends who watch anime that think the subs are automatically superior.

I think subs are better 90% of the time. also the sub & dub of D-gray man stop at the same place, they totally stopped the show at like 90 something eps.
